Audiology
Audiology is the study of hearing and balance disorders. Using various testing strategies, Audiology aims to determine whether someone can hear within the normal range, and if not, which portions of hearing (high, middle or low frequencies) are affected. Audiologists then offer rehabilitation for individuals who have hearing loss, which may include issuing a hearing aid.
We provide follow up from new born hearing screening, working to national standards and targets to diagnose and treat hearing impairment at the earliest age.
We work in partnership with education, social services and other health professionals. This includes assessment, diagnosis and treatment of positionally provoked vertigo.
We aim to provide excellence in care using the national Quality Enhancement Tool for Audiology Services.
Our services comprise a team of 14 individuals offering based in our specialised facilities at Fairfield General Hospital, Radcliffe Primary Care Centre and Tottington Health Centre. We will also have facilities in the new Townside Primary Care Centre in the centre of Bury.
We provide services to all age groups, identifying and quantifying hearing loss and offering assistance in helping to correct it. We provide modern digital behind the ear hearing aids. We also offer a Balance Service for any patients complaining of positionally provoked vertigo and tinnitus counselling (Please note an ENT referral is required for tinnitus counselling).
