Breast Care Nursing Service
The Breast Care Specialist Nursing Service provides a seamless open-ended service to everyone who has or thinks they may have breast disease. This is a patient focussed service always acting in the person’s best interests by providing advocacy, emotional and psychological support, information and practical advice.
It also acts as a resource for health care professionals, family and those of significant importance to the person.
Every-one will be treated individually and with dignity and respect. The service strives to diminish physical and mental distress offering support at times of need and referring to other services as appropriate.
This is an evidence based service managed within the specialist services and all breast care specialist nurses have advanced training and work as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
The breast care nursing service offers confidential:

- practical advice
- information about breast reconstruction
- health promotion
- specialist nurse led clinics
- breast/arm lymphoedema care
- prosthetic fitting clinic
You may meet the breast care nurse:
- at the out patient clinic
- in your own home where they may visit by appointment
- in hospital
- telephone contact is also available
Who is eligible to access our service?
Anyone who has or is worried they may have breast disease in the Community Services Bury catchments area, or anyone attending a breast clinic at Fairfield General Hospital.

To access the breast care nursing service in Bury, you can ask your doctor ,district nurse or your breast consultant to refer you. Alternatively you can contact the service directly by telephone for advice.
