Learning Disability Service

People with learning disabilities are amongst some of the most vulnerable and socially excluded members of our community. The Department of Health (2001), acknowledge almost all people with a learning disability encounter prejudice, bullying, insensitive treatment and discrimination at some time in their lives.

The role of the specialist learning disability service is to support and deliver direct intervention to learning disabled people inclusive of their families and carers. It is crucial emphasis is placed on the empowerment of families and carers to ensure they can deliver effective care/support. The model of service delivery in learning disability services is underpinned by a belief and commitment to person-centered approaches.

We provide specialist health services to learning disabled children and adults who live within Bury.

We aim to provide person centred support to the people who use our services in partnership with families and carers.
