Training and development
The Learning Disability Service's training and development programme has been developed to complement our range of community based services by providing a wide variety of individual training packages that focus on delivering person centred support from a competent, motivated and skilled workforce.
Our training packages are all delivered by experienced health care professionals who are currently practicing within our clinical settings.
We are now able to provide the following individually tailored sessions at your request:
- Learning disability awareness
- Attitudes and values
- Health facilitation and health action planning
- Mental health awareness
- Epilepsy awareness
- Administration of epilepsy rescue medication
- Person centred planning and approaches
- MAPS/PATHS and essential lifestyle planning
- Supporting people with complex and challenging needs
- Control of anger, violence and aggression
- Positive behavioural support
- Autism awareness
- Supporting children and adults with complex health care needs (including gastrostomy and tracheostomy support)
- Communication skills
- Risk management
- Leadership development (motivation of teams, line management supervision, managing complex teams)

Our facilities
- We have dedicated training rooms that seat up to 15 participants within the Bury area close to the M60.
- All venues are wheelchair accessible.
- Interactive white boards with internet access.
- Copying facilities available at all venues.
- Refreshments included at all sessions.
- Lunches arranged as required
- Free parking
- Access to domestic homely environment to deliver small group, informal environmentally friendly sessions
