Q: Will I have to stand up in a room, and tell strangers how much I smoke?

A: No, Bury Stop Smoking Service offers one-to-one appointments, if you do choose a group they are very informal.

Q: Do I have to be referred by my GP?

A: The service is open to anyone, you don’t have to be referred by any health professional, you can ring our local rate helpline on 0845 223 9001.

Q: Do I have to pay to use the service?

A: Support and advice from Bury Stop Smoking Service is free, however any stop smoking medications may be subject to a prescription charge, ask your advisor for more information.

Q: How long will it take to stop smoking?

A: Everybody is different, and the length of time it takes you to stop smoking can be dependant on a variety of factors; we will be here to support you every step of the way.

Q: If I don’t want to use any Nicotine Replacement Therapy, Champix or Zyban can I still get support from the service?

A: Yes. Bury Stop Smoking service are happy to support you however you choose to stop smoking.

Q: I work shifts — Do you have clinics available for me?

A: The service has trained advisors in the community, often in pharmacies that are open later in the evening and at weekends, we can refer you to your local advisor. We also have Stop Smoking Health Trainers who can offer more flexible appointments to those who work shifts, they can be contacted on 0845 071 0699.

Q: I struggle to get out, how could I get to a clinic?

A: We provide a telephone clinic to people who find getting to clinics difficult, give us a call to find out more.
