Walk-in Centres

Walk-in centres provide care to patients and visitors to the town, including health advice and treatment for minor illnesses and injuries without an appointment.

Experienced NHS Nurses provide treatment and advice on a variety of issues including:

  • Minor injuries
  • Cuts and small wounds
  • Minor ailments – coughs, colds, ear pain, flu-like symptoms, sore throats
  • Urinary tract infections
  • Muscle and joint injuries – strains and sprains
  • Contraceptive advice – emergency contraception, pregnancy testing
  • Blood pressure checks
  • Rashes
  • Sexual health – advice and referral, Chlamydia screening
  • Health promotion
  • One-off dressings without appointment, eg removal of stitches
  • Ear assessment – advice and referral to GP for treatment - any infection treated appropriately
Who is eligible to access our service?

Anybody who needs advice or treatment. Anyone who lives in or is visiting the area can access this service and you do not have to be registered with a general practitioner.
