Consultations
NHS organisations have long been required by law to consult the public on substantial changes to services and there is a wider duty to involve and consult patients and the public in:
-
The ongoing planning of services.
-
Considering and developing proposals for change.
-
Decisions that may affect the operation of services.
NHS Bury’s Engagement Team co-ordinates national and local consultation processes. This involves obtaining views of the public or patient groups through a variety of mechanisms, feeding them back to the consulting body, usually the Department of Health, and sharing feedback.
Full details of the active consultations being run by the Department of Health are available here.
Latest news 1 June 2011 - Working together for a stronger NHS
