NHS Bury and NHS Salford to share Chief Executive
NHS Salford and NHS Bury have announced that Dr. Mike Burrows is to become the Joint Chief Executive of both organisations for the next six months. The Bury role will be as Interim Chief Executive and the joint role will commence with immediate effect.
Following a request from NHS Bury’s (Bury Primary Care Trust) Chief Executive, Stephen Mills to retire, the NHS Bury Board has announced the appointment of Dr. Mike Burrows as an Interim Chief Executive.
Local man Stephen Mills has been Chief Executive of Bury Primary Care Trust since February 2006 and he was formerly the Director of Finance for its predecessor organisation, Bury & Rochdale Health Authority.
Mike Burrows is the current Chief Executive of NHS Salford and he will continue to meet his obligations in Salford, as well as acting in an interim capacity at Bury. Following a period of handover, Stephen will pass the reins over to Mike and fulfil his contractual obligations developing strategic projects within the NHS in Greater Manchester.
Mike Burrows said; “NHS Salford has a strong track record of delivering success and as part of the NHS family we have a duty to help and support other partner NHS organisations through challenging times whenever and wherever we can. I’m very much looking forward to working with my new colleagues at NHS Bury.”
NHS Bury Chair Hilda Harvey added; "Steve has dedicated 20 years to developing the NHS in Bury. On behalf of the Board and colleagues, I thank him wholeheartedly for this loyal service and wish him every success for the future.”
