Reappointment of Non-executive director
The Appointments Commission has confirmed the re-appointment of Sarah Henry as a Non-executive director, to the Board of NHS Bury (Bury Primary Care Trust) for a period of four years from 12th October 2009 to 11 October 2013.
NHS Bury receives the NHS budget for the local population and is responsible for planning and delivering health services to people in Bury.
Non-executive directors play a key role in overseeing NHS Bury and ensuring that it meets its statutory duties to deliver healthcare services and improve the health of the local population.
The role of Non-executive director is remunerated at £7,882 per annum and is crucial to the decision making of the NHS Bury Board, which is made up of Executive directors and Non-executive directors.
All Non-executive appointments are made on merit and political activity plays no part in the selection process. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendation, there is a requirement for appointees political activity (if any declared) to be made public.
Sarah, from Radcliffe, has a career in Local Government. Sarah has held the post of Non-executive director to the NHS Bury Board since October 2006. She declares no political activity or other ministerial appointments.
Regarding her re-appointment Sarah said; “I feel privileged to be able to continue in my role as a member of the Board at NHS Bury. Non-executive directors have an important role to play and it is a challenging and rewarding role.”
NHS Bury’s Chair, Hilda Harvey added; “I am very pleased that Sarah has been re-appointed to the Board of NHS Bury. Sarah has made significant contributions to the work of NHS Bury’s Board and I am pleased that we will continue to benefit from her knowledge and experience. We have many challenges ahead and Sarah will play an important role in helping us to overcome them for the benefit of the patients we serve.”
The appointment has been made in accordance with the Commissioner for Public Appointments' Code of Practice.
