Health staff dress down to raise cash for kidney dialysis centres
Health staff have been swapping their work clothes for casual wear, all in a good cause.
NHS Bury offers non-uniform staff the chance to dress casually for work on the last Friday of each month. In return staff are asked to make a voluntary donation of £1 to a nominated local charity. The preferred local charity is reviewed every three months, as chosen by staff.
The most recent charity to benefit from this fundraising is The Noor Foundation UK.
The Noor Foundation raises money for kidney dialysis centres in Pakistan, in areas where access to these services are limited. Over three monthly dress down days, over £190 was collected for The Noor Foundation, by NHS Bury staff.
Chronic Kidney Disease is more common in some populations than others, including those of south Asian origin. The Noor Foundation estimate that as many as 10 million adults in Pakistan suffer from kidney disease.
John Boyington CBE, Managing Director for NHS Bury said: “The dress down days are a really simple idea that gives staff morale a boost and does something positive for charity. The nominated charities have been nominated by staff, and we are delighted to support The Noor Foundation in this way.”
