Our annual Public Health reports are independent reports by the Director of Public Health. They recommend how the health service and its partners can improve health. Reports prior to 2008 are available on request.
2011 Public Health Annual Report
The 2011 annual report focusses on the future move of Public Health into the Local Authority and reflects on the potential for improving health
and wellbeing that this move brings. The report also focusses on a range of public health challenge, including smoking, obesity, diabetes, physical activity, alcohol, sexual health and mental health and wellbeing.

2010 Public Health Annual Report
The 2010 annual report discusses the competing priorities of the acute sector, especially emergency and urgent care, and other health interventions including prevention. It considers how financial levers presently distort services and that different levers are required if a more appropriate balance is to be achieved. It then focuses on the public health priorities of smoking, alcohol and diet showing the present position as shown by the 2010 Bury Health Survey. It gives some other highlights of the 2010 Bury Health Survey - fuller details are in a separate report on the website.

2009 Public Health Annual Report
The public health annual report for 2009 discusses overcoming prejudices that stop the development of best policy in relation to nanny state, postcode lottery and ageism. The final part discusses the results of the local health survey undertaken in 2008.

2008 Public Health Annual Report
The report outlines five key factors that directly impact on people’s quality of life. They are mental health, sensory impairment, pain, sexually transmitted diseases and end of life care.
